For Dog's Sake! is a premium quality dog behavior and training service, that you might not expect to find easily. I am not a high profile trainer, and don't advertise as most of my work comes from referrals and word of mouth recommendations. I believe what sets my business apart from others, are my level of education, qualifications and experience in the field. A high level of personal commitment and responsibility to provide clients with the absolute best experience I can, sets my business apart from others who take a cookie cutter approach to their business. I not only impart skills, tools and tips in my instruction, but I work hard to tailor my lessons to the individual learner and provide what he or she needs to be motivated, succesful and accomplish their training goals. If that means writing a customized training plan, scheduling extra coaching, additional support via telephone and e-mail access or providing literature, video or online resources, I am commited to finding the combination of learning aids and personal instruction that will be the most helpful to each individual client. There are no canned responses to my student's questions! If I do not have a ready answer, I will tell you that also. And then I will find the answer!
I enjoy so many things about the work that I do, I can't list them all! Of course working directly with so many amazing and beautiful dogs is great fun and an obvious perk of being a dog trainer. Some benefits that are less obvious are the rewards of being able to literally change a person's life, and their dogs for the better! I frequently work with dogs that have some fairly serious behavior issues, dogs that suffer from fear, anxiety, reactivity, and can behave aggressively given the right circumstance. These dogs are truly just as amazing and beautiful as the rest and just need some help and guidance from their guardians along with a skilled professional. When people call for help with these issues, many times they too are frightened, anxious, scared, stressed, worn out and fed up with the situation they are living in. They are not having a good time. The dogs are not having a good time. To watch that change and see the sighs of relief, hear the laughs, share in the tears...sometimes frustrated tears...but then happy tears...and to watch these canine/human relationships blossom and begin to now relax and have a good time together...is absolutely priceless and something phenomenal to witness and be a part of! Those moments are almost impossible to describe and I enjoy them immensely! Being able to work with so many different kinds of people, from every walk of life, and such a diverse population of different cultures, races, nationalities, that all share one common bond, the love of a dog is truly a gift. Being a dog trainer allows me to be a student of behavior every day. The more I learn and teach about animals, the more I learn about human nature and myself as well. Truly unexpected gifts!
