First - a few words on pricing. For smaller jobs if you provide pictures of the work areas and a description I can usually provide an estimate. I may have some follow up questions to provide greater accuracy. I do smaller jobs on a time and material basis. The estimate is provided to aid in budgeting and shopping.
Doing the work on T+M and providing an estimate aims to share the risk equally.
If you approve the the estimate we'll find a date that works for both of us. When I arrive we'll go over the scope and I'll let you know if I see any obvious extras. I usually request 50% of the estimated fees as a downpayment.
For more complicated jobs if you approve the first pass estimate I'll make a site visit for a deeper inspection and to discuss. If possible I'll provide a lump sum bid which will be a fixed price for a fixed amount of work. If there're too many probable concealed conditions I'll do the job on T+M.
After receiving the revised estimate or bid if you decide to do business with another company there's a 75$ charge.
Does this make sense?
Second - If I'm doing a repair for you the aim is not to be able to see that a repair was needed.
Third - If it's new work - how well does the new compliment the old? This requires me to not only think about the trees, but the forest as well.
