Because of this unless we require installing the waterproofing. we will not set tile in a wet area that has been prepped by anyone else. The tile is the finish but the most important part of a shower is what's underneath. we stricly follow TCNA industry standards and only install specific waterproofing systems. Even solid surface/prefab shower often leak or let water vapor get into your walls forming toxic mold and mildew.
