Married for 48 years, we have a passion for helping couples both in preparing for marriage as well as after they are married. This passion was ignited after having successfully overcome many difficult challenges in the early years of our marriage, to help other couples who may be struggling in many areas such as: toxic communication, conflict resolution, personality differences, substance abuse, conflicting parenting/step styles and many other common causes of marital discord and failure. Their experience includes 30 plus years of ministry and counselling couples through their local churches. Many couples, after attending the sessions we offer, have found a greater level of satisfaction and renewed commitment and enjoyment of their marriages. In some cases, divorce was prevented, and the couples experienced renewed commitment to their marriages!
We help couples to identify and address areas of strengths in their unique relationships in addition to helping them to identify problem areas which need to be explored and strengthened. As ordained licensed Ministers, we officiate weddings, by offering remote zoom, weddings or, in person weddings. We both hold associates in mental health and addiction counselling, B.S Degrees in Psychology and Christian Counselling as well as a master’s degree in Marriage and Family counselling and Humans services. Our sessions are very affordable, and we also offer payment plans for ongoing clients.

Marriage Life
We are devoted to helping couples gain important interrelation skills and resolutions which covers a wide range of relationship issues. Skills which frequently and negatively impact interpersonal and intrapersonal relations are explored and examined to bring about the desired outcomes in their relationships. We are confident premarital and marriage counselling helps the individuals and better understand each other when considering the individual characteristics within their relationships. We have many years of experience in helping couples to develop healthier communication skills which plays a significant role in the success of their relationships. Our counselling sessions are devoted to helping couples to identify their strengths both as couples and individuals, practice empathetic and reflective listening, and consideration of the other’s perspective as well helping them to examine and explore their family of origin’s model of behavior which commonly impacts their adult behavior and interactions with each other.
We also assist couples in examining communication blockers identified in Gottman’s “Four Horseman” theory which often negatively impact a couple’s marital stability and the health of their relationships. Gottman’s four horsemen theory highlights four negative communication blockers couples often practice which are: criticism, defensiveness, contempt, and stonewalling. We help couples to identify and overcome these behaviors which are often damaging to relationships.
Our sessions also offer and integrate biblical based approach and practical application of scriptures to everyday problems to clients who desire it. Having themselves been married for 48 years with 30 plus years of experience in working with couples, Sylvester and Sherry have successfully helped many couples to challenge and change internal and external behaviors, which often result in self-defeating behavior, which may heal, restore, and enhance their marriages and relationships. Their degrees and training include associate degrees in mental health and addiction counselling, bachelor’s degrees in psychology and master’s degrees in marriage and family counselling and human services. They are certified and trained as Prepare/Enrich marriage and premarital facilitators and are wedding officiants.
