Been active for most of my life and realized that when I wasn't consistently exercising I didn't feel as great as when I did things such as sports, hiking, lifting, swimming, anything that gets your whole body involved and gives you a challenge. There is a connection with how you feel and how much exercise you get. If you overexercise you can burn yourself out and not be fully rested, and if you don't push yourself progressively you will not see great results. Full body movement like : MMA/Calisthenics/Freeweight/Stretching training is good to include in addition to lifting weights to get full range of motion and fix muscle imbalances.
