Classical music education has a reputation for being a bit stuffy and disciplined. While I believe in hard work, I equally believe music is a joyful process of discovery, creativity, and fun.
My practice is strongly based on developing a creative approach to music, with a special focus on technique, ear training, improvisation and composition.
No two students are alike; my goal is to tailor lessons to each individual's unique strengths and weaknesses. I love being able to help students make their creative dreams a reality.
I’ve experienced success in teaching students ranging from 8 to 80 years old, from
beginners to advanced players. If you’re looking for music lessons in piano, theory, or composition, for yourself or your children, feel free to reach out and schedule a consultation. I look forward to working together!
My Credentials:
I’ve studied Piano Performance and Composition at University of North Carolina School of the Arts and George Mason University, and private studies with:
- Clifton Matthews, DMA, Juilliard School
- John Paul Healey, DMA, Oberlin College-Conservatory
- Jonathan Kolm, DMA, University of Texas
- Richard Chambers, MM, Peabody Conservatory
