I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Music Therapy degree and from Columbia University with an Occupational Therapy degree. I have many years of experience (most with young children) teaching piano, viola, and violin, playing in various concert halls, and participating in competitions. I also have experience working with children with special needs and older adults in nursing facilities. Music creates a safe space for individuals to share their talents and also work on various skills.
With my therapy background, I am patient and empathetic when working with people of all ages and various backgrounds. I also believe in specially designed lesson plans for each student due to various goals, abilities, preferences and needs of students. I work together with my students to determine what works best for them.
I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese and welcome those that may be more comfortable with using that language!
