AFFORDABLE, EXPERIENCED, FLEXIBLE, AND PATIENT PIANO TEACHER
Hello! I am Natale Farrell. I have taught piano to students of all ages and levels for over 30 years. I have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Missouri and a Masters Degree in Teaching through the University of Southern California. Besides teaching, I occasionally accompany singers and choirs in schools and churches, and compose .
TAILORED LESSONS
I create tailored lessons for each student to fit his or her interests, goals, abilities, budget, and schedule. To keep costs down for my students, I try to find free, legal, online music or create the sheet music myself using music software. I have a large data base of original compositions that I use to teach the piano. I am extremely patient and flexible but have high expectations for my musicians. I always want them to challenge themselves with new pieces and concepts. My students learn to read notes very quickly with a logical system that they can learn after just a few lessons.
TECHNOLOGY
I love using technology in my lessons. I suggest my students take audio or video of themselves playing at home and then send them to me by email for help and encouragement throughout the week. I urge my students to create their own music and teach them the skills to do this. Some students prefer lessons by Skype or Zoom, which offers flexibility and accessibility.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
RECITALS
Recitals are held twice a year in my home, which gives students a chance to perform in front of others and to demonstrate what they have learned. Occasionally, my students play at local senior centers, and I hold Soirees in my home for my adult students, as well!
PIANO PARTIES
Student Piano Parties are free, informal, get-togethers for my younger students and the community. They occur twice a semester are held on Sundays at 3 pm at my house.
ADULT SOIREES
Soirees are scheduled for adults and older teens on occasional Sunday evenings for music lovers in the nearby community. My older students prefer to play in front of other adults at these fun and social gatherings. It is not just piano being heard here, but all kinds of music-singing, guitar, violin, etc.- and there are even poetry readings! All are welcome simply by sending an RSVP to my gmail or to the contacts page of this web site.
ABRSM
For those who prefer a highly structured program that offers certificates of achievements, I can help them work through the excellent and progressive ABRSM system provided by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
