I’m Dierk, a Vibraphonist, Pianist, and Composer originally from Hamburg, Germany.
My prices for remote lessons or lessons at my apartment in Inwood are as follows: $85 for 60 minutes, $70 for 45 minutes, and $55 for 30 minutes. I'm also happy to come to your place in Manhattan or Brooklyn, with an additional $25 fee for commuting, which is already included in my listed prices on Thumbtack, as this is the package most people book.
After studying, touring, and teaching in Europe, I moved to NYC in 2016 to pursue my Master's at NYU and the Manhattan School of Music. I graduated in May 2018 and now work as a freelancer from my new home in New York.
As a bandleader, I have released six records to date, performing my music across Europe and the East Coast. As a sideman, I’ve played on dozens of records with bands in both the U.S. and Europe.
I’ve been teaching piano, theory, ear training, vibraphone, and drums since I began my professional music career at the age of 14. Over the past 20+ years, I’ve taught students of all ages and levels—introducing beginners to music, guiding intermediate students, preparing musicians for conservatory auditions, and mentoring professionals.
My passion lies in Improvisation and Composition—the study of how music works. I love working with students on the music they’re passionate about, helping them express themselves, and giving them the tools to get creative within music.
