The standard for American English is clear, concise writing. I teach you how to organize your thoughts; make outlines; compose well-written sentences and paragraphs; cite examples to support your ideas; and find your writer’s voice.

I teach grammar and the mechanics of English (usage, sentence structure, punctuation, etc.) not as isolated skills but in the context of meaningful writing. When we care about WHAT we’re saying, we care about HOW we say it.

Literary analysis and critical thinking are challenging for many of today’s students. Through deep reading and discussion, you will learn to find interesting, original things to say about what you read.
