It's become increasingly common for a job seeker in today's employment market to feel overwhelmed and frustrated by what used to be a fairly straightforward process. In the not-so-distant past, a resume was no more than an outline of skills and experience. Cover letters were mere formality, and LinkedIn was simply a way to network virtually while expanding industry connections. What was once, "The Job vs The Job Seeker", has evolved into, "The Job vs The Job Seeker vs ALL The OTHER Job Seekers". It's no longer an adapt-or-fail market. It's a STAND-OUT-or-fail market. So, how can I help you - the job seeker - shine just a little more brightly than your competing seekers? To play a game well, you must first understand the rules.
Having spent the past twenty-six (26) years in the Staffing and Recruiting industry, I have the distinct advantage of understanding our employment market from multiple vantage points. Working as a recruiting in both the agency and corporate setting has allowed me to work with hundreds of different companies in a variety of industries; collaborate with many hundreds of hiring managers; represent thousands of job seekers and have probably sourced through tens of thousands of resumes in the process.
For the past ten years, I have leveraged that knowledge and experience to craft resumes, cover letters (yes, cover letters are making a comeback), and LinkedIn profiles, which reflect content and formatting relevant and eye-catching to employers in the present job market.
