Estill Voice is a scientific, anatomy-based voice model with exercises targeting every structure involved in singing. We will practice them. My personal perspective comes from my vast experience of singing major roles on stage and from my extensive work with my great teacher, Peter Gregg, personal coach and accompanist to the great Italian dramatic tenor, Mario del Monaco. Showing how coordinating anatomical structures contribute to singing, I specialize in a unique approach of Resonance Shaping to shape phrases by coordinating and alternating contractions on the pharyngeal wall, based on changing contractions of resonation location to shape the phrase. The resonance will change from mouthy resonance to pharyngeal resonance which produces sustaining resonance, the very identification of a professional sound. Most singers intuitively try to sing with mouthy resonance but I show why that is less efficient and worse sounding than professional pharyngeal resonance creating sustaining resonance. This resonance identification for phrase shaping, and hence vocal technique shaping is often a compete revelation, even to professional singers. It forms the basis of my singing and teaching for my students who transform almost immediately to a professional sound. My voice lessons are now via Skype and I charge $80 per hour lesson.
