Hello! I am a Korean-American classical pianist who is passionate about music education and the emotional, social, and cultural capacities of music. I received her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and have achieved success in various competitions and festivals through a multifaceted career in both solo and collaborative performance, as well as music education. I have over 3 years of teaching experience in various age groups (5-21+) and multiple institutions in the DMV area.
Lessons are held on a weekly basis in 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions in my home studio in downtown Baltimore. I offer a free 30-minute trial lesson to all prospective students; registration in the studio includes one yearly recital and 2 yearly studio classes alongside weekly lessons. I am experienced in teaching many areas of music such as eartraining, theory, and technique, and have taught students who are now enrolled in advanced programs such as Baltimore School of the Arts’ Twigs program and the music minor program at University of Maryland. My approach to teaching is warm and inquisitive, and I aim to foster a multidimensional understanding and appreciation of music while encouraging creative expression. Ultimately, my goal for students is to nurture a long-lasting love of music, help students to develop good technique and understanding of musical notation, and instill self-instructional methods that will allow you to confidently and independently guide your own musical journey long after our work together has concluded.
